As a symbol of sustainability, the wind turbine is up there. One of the UK's biggest barriers in going green is public perception of wind turbines. This men's t-shirt with wind turbine design hints at the need to break the argument down to the facts and get used to the idea that wind turbines work, with the help of a Haynes-manual-style exploded plan.
This Organic T-shirt was made in a Fairwear Foundation audited factory powered by 32 Vestas V52 turbines. The wind energy, along with shipping by sea instead of air and hand finishing in the UK means the net CO2 emissions for this wind turbine t-shirt are 80% lower than a normal t-shirt, according to a recent Carbon trust study.

Rapanui. Making Eco-Fashion Cool
Rapanui is about making cool eco-fashion for young people; that means clothing that is eco-friendly, ethical and sustainable.
We make clothing from natural organic fabrics in a Fair Wear Foundation audited, ,wind powered factory, but really what we're about is communication - It's not that people don't care about child labour, the environment, our climate, it's just they don't know. At Rapanui we make it easier for people to see where clothing comes from and how it is made so they can make informed choices. It's called Traceability.
Rapanui was set up by brothers Mart and Rob Drake-Knight in early 2008 now aged 23 and 25 respectively. Through surfing they saw and experienced the changing environment and climate at their local beach and as inspired, unemployed graduates in a recession, they took a different path; if you can't find a job, make one. The aim still is to inform through the brand and mix eco with trend - to make it fashionable for people to go green.
At Rapanui we're a bit geeky and like to experiment with Sustainable Textiles. Generally though, we favour Natural, Organic, plant-based fabrics over oil-based synthetic ones.
We source products from a number of factories, like all clothing retailers - but at Rapanui our values are different. We believe in ethical fashion; whether the item is certified Fair-Trade, GOTS certified or made in a factory monitored by a member of Fair Wear Foundation, all our clothing is made with ethical values in mind.
We've reduced our Carbon emissions, including embedded carbon, by 80% since 2008.
Think about what you're wearing, where it came from and how it was made. How much energy went into it? What kind of chemicals? Who sewed it together? It is now possible to investigate the complete supply chain of ALL our products, a world first
